A little about me

Hello, my name is Shawn and this is my first time. Yes I am a little nervous but I hope to get through this. I figured with my  first blog post I would tell people about myself a little.  I guess this blogging thing is what I should have been doing all along. I have been told I have the gift of "gab", not sure if that is always a good thing.  Most of my posts will be sports or life in general related. I am not one to tell someone who to vote for or get very political. I will tell you to vote but just vote on who you think is best.  Now the part about me. I guess I should start about by saying that I enjoy nice quite walks, and beaches, sunsets, and....wait this isn't my eharmony profile is it.  :) I guess my obsession is baseball. It all started while I was bouncing a tennis ball off my garage and playing games. My other obsession is play by play. I would do the call of the game the whole time I would play. My dream as a little boy was to be the play by play voice for a professional baseball team. I would love to be in the Hall of Fame as a broadcaster. I can remember as a kid, listening to Pat Summerall and Dick Endberg call a game and try and be just like them. Sports has always been a passion of mine, at high school I was a 3 sport player. I played football, baseball and basketball. Notice I wasn't a 3 sport star which ended my dream of playing pro sports. So I figured what better way to be in sports if not playing then telling people about it. Maybe one day I will become a famous broadcaster, who knows, I'm not that old yet.
I grew up in a small Ohio town and moved to Texas when I was 15 years old, and have been here ever since. I grew up a Eagles, Buckeyes, Indians fan.  Since moving to Texas I have adopted the Rangers as my new fav team. I still root for the Eagles but I want to see the Cowboys win, cause as we all know this town is a lot better to live in when the Cowboys are doing good. My childhood was pretty much like any other child that lived in Ohio. Dad worked 60 hours a week, mom stayed home. Even though my dad worked a lot he never missed one of my games, and was always in the stands. He was my coach my first 2 years of baseball, and then decided that he didn't want to coach just help me out as he could. I would always turn into the stands before every at bat or every time I trotted out to my position in the field and he would always be there. I think it was my Grandpa, and my dad that shaped my obsession with baseball. My grandma would always go to bed after the weather(which was 10:15) and my grandpa and I would stay up watching the late west coast baseball game.  My childhood was good and I think it has helped make me into the man I am today.  I hope to one day pass on my love for baseball to my son.
I will try and make things funny and light here for anyone who wishes to follow. I figured I would give just a small bit of background on me. Thanks for taking time to read.
