tuesday thoughts

As i am sitting here at a red light this morning I see this older couple walk by. Both of them have to be in thier upper 70s I'm guessing, and as they are walking they are holding hands. I couldn't help of think of 2 things. 1. Will that be me when I c that age. 2. How much I miss my grandpa. It's been 10 years now since he passed and not a day goes by that I don't think about him. We always said that if my grandma would have passed first my grandpa would have passed away the next day of a broken heart. He never went in the grocery store or Walmart but always drove my grandma to those places. Even though she would spend hours at a time in the store he never complained about driving her. He simply loaded the bags in the trunk drove home and brought the bags in the house. He would always go to the bank and to the local store and buy a case of beer every Friday. Most of the time he bought Genise beer although he didn't really need beer he always walked down there and bought some. Then every sat morning he would wake up and my brother cousin and I would drop our 2 dollars worth of in change into our piggy banks. He was an avid bowler and a man of few words, but when he spoke it was important and you listened. He loved his family and would do anything for us. I'm sure he misses my grandma and all of us, now my grandma is sick I know he is there holding her hand just like the man and woman I saw this morning doing. I remember one piece of advice the most. He said in order to be happy just do what she says. She asks you to take out the trash then do it right then. You make her happy she will return it ten fold. So to anyone who reads this if you have someone to hold hands with the do it. Make sure you always say I love you, and don't take them for granted cause you never know when they won't be there to hold hands with. Have a great day.

  1. My grandma died 9 years ago. I miss her. She lived with us for about 6 years before she went into a nursing home, so I got to spend a lot of time with her. I watched my first scary movie with her when I was 11!!

    Good job with the blog!
